⏱️ Step by Step (T & Ss)

🔹 Minute 0 – Preparation (Before the activity)

T (Teacher):

· Select 6–8 target words/structures from the unit

· Get a soft ball ready

· Prepare these headings on the board:

  · ✅ Easy

  · ❓ Difficult

  · ✏️ One more sentence

Ss (Students):

· (Not yet active – seated and ready)

---

🔹 Minute 1 – Warm-up / Recall

T:

· Writes 6–8 target words on the board.

· "Look at these words. Read them. Remember them. You have 20 seconds. Ready? Go!"

· Starts a timer (20 seconds).

Ss:

· Silently look at the words.

· Repeat them in their heads.

· Stay focused for 20 seconds.

T:

· "Time's up! Great, let's start the game."

---

🔹 Minute 2 – Speed Ball Round Begins 🟢

T:

· Holds the ball.

· "Simple rule: Catch the ball, make a sentence. Use the words on the board. Then throw the ball to someone else. Deal?"

· Throws the ball to a student.

· (Optional demonstration: "I wake up at 7 o'clock.")

Ss (Student 1):

· Catches the ball.

· Quickly makes a sentence: "I have breakfast at 8 am."

· Throws the ball to another student.

T:

· Keeps the pace. Uses eye contact and nods.

· Maintains rhythm: "Catch – say – throw..."

Ss (other students):

· Stay alert.

· When the ball comes, produce a sentence.

· Examples: "I go to school by bus.", "I take a shower in the morning."

---

🔹 Minute 3 – Challenge Twist

T:

· After a student catches the ball, interrupts:

· "Stop! Now let's make it harder. Don't just make a sentence – ask a QUESTION."

· Or: "Now use TWO words in your sentence."

· Or: "Now make a NEGATIVE sentence."

Ss:

· Quickly adapt.

· Examples:

  · Question: "Do you wake up early every day?"

  · Two words: "I wake up and take a shower."

  · Negative: "I don't have breakfast at 6 am."

T:

· "Awesome! Your brains are working hard. Keep going – one more minute!"

---

🔹 Minute 4 – Reflection & Quick Assessment

T:

· Puts the ball aside.

· Points to the board sections:

  · ✅ Easy

  · ❓ Difficult

  · ✏️ One more sentence

· "You have 20 seconds. Turn to your partner and talk: What was easy? What was difficult? If you want to say one more sentence, what would it be? Go!"

Ss:

· Turn to their partner.

· Quickly share ideas (20 seconds).

· Example dialogue:

  · "Easy because 'wake up' is very familiar."

  · "Asking a question was a bit hard, but then I got used to it."

T:

· "Stop! Now I want to hear from 2–3 of you. What do you think?"

· Takes quick feedback.

---

🔹 Minute 5 – Closure & Energy Boost

T:

· Smiles and looks at the whole class.

· "What you just did was incredible. Every time you speak faster and more confidently. We will play this game in every unit."

· Optional: "Tonight, teach this game to your family or a friend. You be the teacher."

Ss:

· Feel their success.

· Smile and transition to the next activity, ready and energized.

🌿 Teacher's Afterthoughts

What went well? What to watch for?

Students move fast Some students may freeze – smile and say "One word is enough!"

Everyone participates Remind them: "Throw to someone new"

Timing works perfectly If a group struggles, skip the Challenge Twist

💡 Bonus Tip from the Blogger

Combine this activity with writing: After the game, say "Write down the best 3 sentences you remember in 1 minute" – you'll get both speaking and writing practice.

Now it's your turn. Try it in your next class and see the difference! 🧠⚡
